The Aethos was created to tread the perfect line between exceptional ride quality, extreme lightness and unparalleled style, and the Aethos Comp is no exception. The Aethos Sport has easy-to-maintain Shimano 105 mechanical controls, hydraulic disc brakes and robust DT Swiss R470 wheels. The Aethos' frame is designed to create the perfect combination of ride quality, lightness and style - so you can accelerate up steep climbs, descend technical descents and be comfortable on long Sunday rides. But you might ask, how did Specialized do it? It re-invented the traditional road bike shape of the past, changing it slightly to optimise stiffness and balance, without compromising weight or strength. A lightweight frame is no use if the riding characteristics do not inspire confidence. That's why for the Aethos, Specialized sought the perfect mix of stiffness at the front and rear in relation to ride quality. By studying the flexibility and every detail of the carbon fibres, Specialized discovered a lot about how forces flow through the frame. It only takes a few pedal strokes to realise that the Aethos represents a new standard of riding. Every detail, from the gear support to the stem expander, has been designed with style, weight and strength in mind. In addition, Specialized included the new Alpinist carbon-fibre seatpost to shed further weight and optimise the ride characteristics - all for perfect rideability.
